2000's M35 2.5 Ton Brush Truck, New Jersey Forest Fire Service - Modified Casting

In some areas of the country it’s a brush truck, in other areas it’s a stump jumper. The New Jersey Forest Fire Service converted this “Deuce and a Half” by adding a water tank on the back and a cage on the front.

Seagrave Sedan - New Haven - 70th Anniversary

The Seagrave Sedan New Haven represents a milestone in firefighting history. In 1951, Seagrave celebrated its 70th anniversary by introducing a Pumper that would become the most popular fire rescue vehicle of all time. The last in this legendary line was manufactured for the New Haven, Connecticut fire department. Now every detail is captured in this authentic, precision-engineered die-cast model including the siren built right into the nose, dual headlights, two deep-skirted grill bars, ladders on the sides, front-mounted suctions and a glittering array of chrome-finished details.

Mack B Open Cab Pumper - History Channel

Whether strutting it stuff down Main Street during the 4th of July parade or on the way to a three-alarm house fire, you could summarize the Mack B's performance in one word: "dependable." A second word to describe the B is "First." In 1960, the city of Hamilton, Bermuda, purchased three B-Style Open-Cab Pumpers with Mack diesel engines. Even though diesels had been used for many years, Mack was the first fire-apparatus manufacturer to effectively and efficiently use the engines in their rigs.

1960's Seagrave 70th Anniversary Tractor Drawn Aerial - Baltimore, MD

The 70th Anniversary Pumper has been such a hit that this all-new tractor-drawn ladder fire truck debuts in the 2004 lineup with the Baltimore City Fire Department's traditional color scheme. A great companion piece to the Seagrave K form Baltimore City Fire released last year, this rig comes with all the bells and whistles, from a fully extendable and pivoting ladder to all the intricate details, down to pin striping and the bell on the passenger side.

1960s Seagrave 70th Anniversary Tractor Drawn Aerial, Ladder 3,  Boston, MA

The new Seagrave Tractor Drawn Aerial in Boston colors commemorates a city with a long and distinguished fire fighting history.  In 1678 the first paid municipal fire department was organized in Boston, and since then it has been a leader in fire prevention and fire fighting techniques.  On January 28, 1966, a gas explosion occurred in the Paramount Hotel.  Ladder 3 was called in on the second alarm.  The blaze would eventually go to a fifth alarm and take the lives of 11 people.  Governor Volpe stated "The magnificent courage of firefighters, police and other city workers earned our gratitude."

1960's ALF 700 Closed Cab - Brook Park, Ohio

Back when black-and-white photographs identified nary a difference between navy and black, Walt McCall identified this ALF 700 from Brook Park, Ohio, as having "the same type of black-painted upper cab found on Chicago rigs" in his book "American Fire Engines Since 1900". Over time, the colors will fade from any photograph, and if they're black and white to begin with, you better have a pretty darn good memory. Chief Glen Kruger of the Brook Park Fire Department remembers the old ALF 700s when he first joined in the early 1960s, and remembers the rigs were painted navy and red. While hesitant to call Mr. McCall colorblind, the few photos we found lead us to believe Chief Kruger has the angle and, as a result, the peculiar navy-and-red color scheme adorns this 700 series- a rarity for ALFs purchased directly from the manufacturer.

1970s American La France 700 Pumper Closed Cab, Denver, CO

The details on this Denver Fire Department American LaFrance are truly amazing.  Check out the Warner Shutoff (locally called the Sampson).  Invented by Fred Warner, master DFD mechanic in the 30's, this device enables one man to shut down a fully charged hose, a necessary action while setting up and charging lines to fight a fire.  Other accoutrements on this piece are a Cooper Hose Jacket used to plug hose leaks and a Bresnan Cellar Nozzle, better known as a Whirligig, and perfect for basement fires.

1980's Mack CF Tower - Mahanoy City, PA (Ex FDNY)

On Memorial Day in 1996 the tower was re-sold to Mahanoy’s volunteer Citizens Fire Company #2. As soon as it arrived at the station, an artist painted a fiery skull and crossbones on the front license plate, with the design also adorning the bottom of the basket. Five years later, the 9/11/01 tragedies occurred, and to commemorate and celebrate the actions of all firefighters, and specifically those of FDNY’s Ladder 15, the volunteers of Citizens Fire Company #2 were moved to action. Ladder 15’s patch and the names of the 13 fallen firemen are painted on the officer’s side of the boom as a constant reminder of the supreme sacrifice those in the fire community are asked to make every day on duty.
