The
1:500 scale is the most common scale for Herpa Wings, and this scale is
reserved exclusively for the airplane models of the Herpa Wings fleet. It
provides a comfortable and pleasant size, a respectable weight, and of
course perfect detail and finish are as always an absolute necessity for
Herpa. Even the landing gear and the engines are precisely reproduced to
look like the original. Meanwhile many of the worlds airlines work
together with Herpa to commission new designs. The Herpa Wings collection
enjoys a ever-increasing popularity and is available on board certain
airlines, at airport shops, and in fine collectible stores. The Herpa Wings fleet
has fans all around the world!
The
newest scale is 1:400. This scale was added to the Herpa Wings fleet of 1:500 scale planes to provide models that are slightly larger in size and
weight. Herpa plans to continue to design new models in this scale.
However, the number of models offered will be fewer than those in the
1:500 scale.
The
Herpa 1:200 scale was introduced in 1988 with the exclusive Lufthansa
Model Edition, and has been admired by model airplane fans ever since.
Herpa is continuing this 1:200 series with additional models in a
reasonable price range. The relatively large scale of these models along
with their high-quality plastic construction provides for optimal details.
Metal inserts are added to these models to provide a heavier feel. The
design as well as the position of the lights, windows, doors, etc.
provides accurate detail. Transparent hangars for these impressive
airplanes are offered and they provide an attractive and dust protected
exhibition environment.
The
1:160 scale is the same scale as the "N scale" used by model
trains. There are only a few model planes of this scale available on the
market.
